About the project

One of the main purposes of our project “Feel better- Learn better” is to encourage students to take part in physical sports, different games instead of spending all their spare time online. We are taking the proverb “A sound mind in a sound body” as our starting point and the planned activities will create a better learning environment. The physical activities are integrated into school routine and in addition the modern technologies are used to keep the students motivated.

Playing sports and different games is instrumental in learning the art of teamwork, develops skills vital for competitions and nourish children’s leadership qualities. Moreover, it develops their stamina, improves metabolism, sharpens their reflexes and brace them to face everyday life challenges.

The project will strengthen and develop cooperation between schools: the students will have the opportunity to interact with students from other Nordic/Baltic countries, to discuss ideas, develop their knowledge of different lifestyles and work together in collaborative activities to suppress any difficulties.

The project will be an inclusive one involving students from a wide range of ages and backgrounds. For the teachers involved, it will give them an opportunity to get a better understanding of teaching within European countries. It will provide them a chance to develop their own ways of teaching as well as sharing good practices.

The partners are interested in being involved in the project because we think that children today are too dependent on computers and electronic devices. It would be better for them to be more physically active and to take up traditional leisure activities. The majority of parents coming to school have claimed that youngsters are getting more dependent on electronic devices and and have found that schools should persuade them to participate in other activities. At the same time the different parties (parents/teachers) understand that we cannot and shouldn’t cut students completely from modern technologies, instead we should blend the two in order to achieve better results.

Above mentioned aspects and the shared concerns and ideas encouraged us to join in the current Nordplus Junior project. We want to show that we have the same problems and that if we work together we can make a change.

The theme of our project is in accordance with cross-curricular topics where the aim is for the pupil to develop into a mentally, emotionally, socially and physically healthy member of society who is capable of following healthful lifestyles, act in a safe manner and take part in developing a health promoting environment.
